Why Saturn?

The mythology of Saturn delights me. Considered a "malefic" (rather than "benefic") deity, Saturn is known for possessing dark power with high potential for abuse. As such, Saturn is associated with punishment, restrictions, destruction, the devil, and corruption within the systems governing life on Earth. Saturn is also associated with the ability to patiently understand one's place within the whole of nature and to derive strength, healing and authentic abundance from living one's truth with honor given to the boundaries placed upon us by our relationships with time, karma, entropy and death. I feel personally that contemporary society's unhealthy and imbalanced stories around time, karma, entropy and death is one reason why Saturn's energy can feel like such hell.

I am interested in re-shaping those relationships through the stories I live and tell.

Thus, much of my poetry, journalism and activism centers on those themes in one way or another.

Saturn is also an awesome planet. From a purely scientific perspective, it holds within itself a microcosm of the universe in ways the other planets in our solar system do not. Saturn teems with potential and contains multitudes. So do we.
